Q1 What is the main focus of your charity?

The Botswana Orphan Projects vision is to saturate the country with the message that life is worth living and that everything should be done to influence and care for the orphaned, the young and the vulnerable. Together with our local partner, we’ve built orphan centres across the country that will serve as a platform for these children to reach their potential. Our current focus is to finish an orphanage that we’ve started building in Thamaga, Botswana. Once finished, the orphanage will have a fully operational bakery as a source of income to the orphanage.

Q2 How important are donations to your charity?

We receive no government funding and very little corporate funding. We really heavily on personal donations which go directly towards building materials, local labour, shipping and the resources required to build or maintain these orphan centres.

Q3 What difference will the following amounts of money make?

Every dollar raised is a dollar invested in making a difference. For $250, you can help pay for the upkeep of one child for 5months where they would receive food, clothing, love and care. For $500, you can provide the furniture and bedding required for one dormitory For $1,064, you can contribute towards establishing the bakery, which will provide a source of income to the orphanage as well as food for the children. For $4,500, you can provide mains electricity to the orphanage.

The money from the Great Ocean ride will go towards.

$8000 will go towards constructing another dormitory for the Thamaga orphan centre. It will pay for the hire of locals to construct the foundations and pay for the bricks that Australian volunteers will lay..
